TCEA 2012

It has been two years since I have been afforded the opportunity to attend TCEA and the 311-mile drive to Austin, Texas, was well worth it. I learned tools that librarians and teachers can use in the classroom with students or they can use it at home. My first day of GOOGLE ACADEMY was jam packed with Google Apps. The first App I would like to share with you is Google Voice.

Google Voice allows you to transfer your voice mail to your iPad or Desktop. The amazing part is it will transcribe your message as well. When someone leaves a voice mail, you are sent an email that allows you to play the message or view the transcribed message. It isn’t perfect though, the computer will transcribe what it hears – so if a name like, “Annie,” isn’t pronounced properly, it might come out as, “honey.”

The link to get Google Voice is: https://www.google.com/voice

For someone like me that doesn’t answer her personal phone during the workday, it is an ideal way to receive messages of missed calls.
